This past May, Vancouver-based artist Tatiana Rivero Sanz hung her art photography on the walls of Art! Vancouver. In the next few months they’ll also be on the walls of exhibitions in the globes most prestigious art hubs, from Venice, to New York, to Monaco.

Sanz, artist name “tana”, and her award-winning photography will be showcased in eight different showings and exhibitions, in seven different cities, ending her journey in Art Monaco later this month.

“I enjoy the experience of these exhibitions and meeting the other artists, but nothing compares to working in the studio to create my photos,” says Sanz.

Sanz defines her artwork as a blend of photography, painting, sculpture, poetry and performance art. To create her installations, Sanz designs dream-like theatre stages in her studio. She paints the walls until they become abstract canvases, adds sculptures that capture the theme of the installation, and stars a female protagonist who reacts to the setting through their own unique expressions.

“The aim is to create a space outside of reality, to evoke inner longings, nightmare obsessions,” says Sanz.

“It’s a universe full of intense feelings for women and girls. The space around them seems to mirror their inner thoughts, so much so that the stage becomes central in the final photo. The emptiness stands for loneliness, even abandonment, but it’s more, it’s about the connection between oneself and the meaning of life, about what it means to be a woman or a girl.”

Tatiana Rivero Sanz has received the “Shakespeare in Art” Award in Verona, Italy.  Her artwork is included in “The 21st Century Art Book” by Dott. Russo Francesco Saverio. Recently, she was awarded with 1st prize in digital painting, at the Salon du Vieux Port, Cannes, France, in a collective exhibition organized by “Le Reflect de nos differences”.

She was chosen as one of 15 women photographers presented at the Pil’Ours, Pays de Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, International Festival in France. Co-organized by Leica, the festival was a celebration of womanhood.

Tatiana Rivero Sanz will return to showcase her work at Art! Vancouver 2017, which takes place from May 25th to May 28th. To learn more visit
