November 25, 2015 -- Linda L. Bacin is President of Bella! Bacinos and partner with husband Dan in several well known Chicago area restaurants including Bacino’s Pizza, Bacinos Wacker, Bella Baeinos LaGrange, Bacino’s Lincoln Park, and their newest addition, Bacino’s Italian Grill located in Diversey Harbor. 

Bacino’s was the only Chicago-based pizza selected to participate in the 2015 Worlds Expo held in Milan Italy this past summer. Known for serving only fresh, real ingredients, Bacin introduced new mini stuffed pizza’s there. The pizza’s, recognized as America’s 1st Heart Healthy Pizza by the American Heart Association, became an immediate hit, introducing Italians and Worlds Expo visitors to this famous Chicago-style pizza made popular by Bacino’s.

Linda Bacin is recognized as one of our nation’s top female entrepreneurs. Her contributions to the restaurant community are many. She was elected to the National Restaurant Association Board of Directors in 1996 and for nine years held the position of an at-large voting member before being elected as a Director Emeritus.

During her tenure as a voting director, she chaired several key Board committees, including the Marketing, Media and Communications Committee, the Government Affairs and Public Policy Committee, and the Convention Committee, as well as serving on numerous other board committees which generate policy and position recommendations that determine the direction of the national body that is the spokes-organization for the restaurant industry.

Ms. Bacin was voted to serve on Board of Trustees of the National Restaurant Associations Educational Foundation in 2000 and in 2006 was elected to be an officer and member of its Executive Committee.  In 2008 Ms.Bacin served as the Chairman of the NRAEF Board of Trustees and currently serves as an active, voting past chair.

She served on the NRA Educational Foundation National ProStart Council, a group that oversees the growth of the industry’s employment initiative to create synergy between high schools, culinary institutions and industry employers.  She remains an active participant in the Illinois Restaurant Association, having served as a board member and in the state association’s top leadership role as its board chairman. 

Ms. Bacin was certified as a Womans Business Enterprise in 2012 and is currently pending her ACDBE approval. Linda serves on the Chicago 365 Hospitality Council since 2012 and joined the Kendall College Board of Trustee in 2014. .

Ms. Bacin has been a long time supporter of community and civic activism.  The Chicago Mayor’s Office of Special Events appointed her to the Taste of Chicago Committee, and the City of Chicago’s Sister Cities program.  Her credentials include service on the executive board of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Board, on the executive board of the Heart Association, on the board of the National Association of Women Business Owners, and on the board of the March of Dimes.  She is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier and in 1991 was named Pizza Person of the Year by the National Association of Pizza Operators. 

In addition to her civic activism, Ms. Bacin has testified before Congressional and Regulatory agency oversight committees on behalf of the restaurant industry.  She has enlightened Chicago City Counsel with her testimonials, currently serves Alderwoman Michelle Smith in a community advisory council and in 2015 founded The Urban Garden for Alderman Tom Tunney in the 44th ward.
