Press Release | Wed October 04, 2017, 10:01 AM EST
Dovetail Brewery, the Chicago craft brewery that has been praised nationwide for excellence in Continental European-style beers, will be the featured brewery Friday and Saturday, October 6 and 7 at the Rathskeller, 401 E. Michigan St. in Indianapolis, Indiana. Seven of Dovetail’s beers will be on tap for everyone to enjoy. Dovetail Co-founders/brewers Hagen Dost and Bill Wesselink will be on hand to answer questions and join in the festivities.
Dovetail Brewery (1800 W. Belle Plaine, Chicago; 773-683-1414) is one of Chicago’s craft beer gems, and the brewery began distributing its masterful creations, brewed using open fermentation, to its Indiana neighbors in April of this year. Thanks to a partnership with Craftroads Beverage, a distribution company with more than sixty years of industry experience and a passion for exceptional craft beer, Dovetail now is distributed in select Indiana markets.
Dovetail was launched in 2016 by Wesselink and Dost, who first met at the famed Doemens Institute in Munich while studying for their Master Brewer Certifications. Almost immediately, Dovetail earned praise from beer writers in Chicago and across the country. Beer Advocate Magazine named Dovetail one of the most promising breweries to open in 2016 and Josh Noel, columnist at the Chicago Tribune, stated that a visit to Dovetail Brewery is “a must for any serious beer lover.” Dovetail Brewery finished in fifth place in USA Today 10Best’s Best New Brewery reader’s poll: It was one of twenty breweries across the country selected by USA Today’s panel of beer experts, and the final top ten list was determined by reader voting.
The brewery brings a high level of quality and craftsmanship to its beer through the marriage of both traditional brewing methods and modern brewing creativity. Believing brewing is a fine balance of art, science, hard work and fun, Dost and Wesselink use it all as they merge continental European styles and techniques with American creativity to produce the kind of beers found in small, family-run breweries in Europe.
“We’re thrilled and proud to be featured at Rathskeller,” said Wesselink. “The Rathskeller is nationally known as a place where knowledgeable beer lovers are introduced to new breweries, and it’s an honor to present our beers to such a significant audience. We hope they will appreciate our approach to beer-making and truly enjoy the products.”
Seven Dovetail beers will be on tap this weekend at the Rathskeller:
A golden, malty, rich, creamy complex lager with aroma of malt and fresh hops. Easy to drink with a lingering pleasant after-taste and foam that stands like a cloud above the rim of the glass; lacing at every sip.
Easy to drink with a lingering, pleasant aftertaste. A rich, yolky orange wheat beer, featuring the aroma of clove and fruit in perfect balance; refreshing on a warm day, with a hint of mandarin orange-like acidity; huge effervescent head. Thick lasting foam that leaves an attractive lacing after every sip.
Dark with reddish tones and an off-white head with a rocky foam standing above the rim of the glass; as you bring it to your nose, you feel like you are eating a bar of chocolate in a smokehouse, full and rich with generous hopping to balance the flavor of beechwood smoked bacon.
Dovetail Bamberger Dunkel
This beer is inspired by the dark lagers of Bamberg and Northern Bavaria; the limestone cliffs along the Danube; and the fairytale brewery-klosters along the way.
Dovetail Vienna Lager
A seasonal winter beer, the Vienna Lager is brewed with 100% Vienna malt and Styrian Golding hops. The lager is a warm copper color with an equally a warm and malty character.
The color of mid-summer sunsets and dry-hopped with Ariana, this beer is filled with the aroma of season's bounty of clover blossom, jasmine, hyacinth, and gooseberries. Slightly dry with a pleasant, lingering bitterness.
A strong lager with deep depth and flavor, Dovetail’s Festbier is brewed in the same style as popular Oktoberfestbiers.
