Hamburgers are a favorite American creation and can be found anywhere from backyard BBQs to fine dining restaurants. It is only natural that the popular dish would have its own day of celebration. July 28, 117 years after the first ‘hamburgers’ were served at Louis’ Lunch diner in New Haven, Connecticut in 1900, is National Hamburger Day.

Toast to the holiday with T&B Grill (3658 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago; 773-961-7016). Known for putting unique twists on the classic American staple, the restaurant uses a quarter-pound of freshly ground meat. Favorites include the T&B Burger, the signature burger featuring a bison patty with jalapeño aioli, chorizo, grilled shrimp, pepperjack cheese and guacamole on a brioche bun; Spice Burger with beef, habanero aioli, fried egg, pickled jalapeño and Swiss cheese served on a pretzel bun; Chipotle Burger, a beef and pulled pork burger with guajillo aioli and cheddar cheese on a pretzel bun; Cheddar Jalapeño Burger, a beef burger with guajillo aioli, grilled jalapeños, cilantro chips and cheddar cheese on a pretzel bun; Turkey Burger featuring ground turkey, chipotle aioli, garlic spinach, tomatoes and Swiss cheese on a pretzel bun; the Classic, a beef burger with jalapeño aioli, caramelized onions, smoked bacon and cheddar cheese on a pretzel bun; and the Veggie Burger, a delight for non-meat eaters, featuring a black bean and sweet corn patty, bell peppers, zucchini, guacamole and alfalfa sprouts served on a brioche bun.

About T&B Grill

T&B Grill is a casual neighborhood BYOB restaurant located at 3658 W. Lawrence in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood. With an artistic atmosphere highlighted by colorful wall murals and a creative menu that elevates two crowd favorites—tacos and burgers—talented chef/owner Ambrosio prepares fresh, made from scratch food, including appetizers, a variety of unique tacos and burgers, fresh hand-cut fries, and artisan desserts, all of which are consistently creative and delicious.
