Get into the holiday spirit with a delicious meal and jazz entertainment at Prairie Grass Cafe (601 Skokie Blvd.; Northbrook, IL; 847-205-4433)! Bassist Jim Batson and his crew will be playing from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2.                                                                                                                     

The menu special will be a Quinoa Cake Benedict ($12.50). Vegetarian friendly, the quinoa cakes are topped with poached eggs and then drizzled with hollandaise sauce and homemade salsa.  A delicious, savory start to the day, the Quinoa Cake Benedict special is also a healthier option as it substitutes an English muffin for a quinoa patty base—it’s the perfect guilt-free yet indulgent treat.

As always, the regular brunch menu also will be offered. Prairie Grass Cafe favorites include the Local Omelet, with farmer eggs, River Valley Ranch mushrooms, and Capriole Farm goat cheese ($11.50); Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with maple syrup and whipped butter ($12) or topped with raspberry sauce and Crème Anglaise ($17); and Ancho Marinated Skirt Steak with two eggs any style, breakfast potatoes and choice of toast ($27).
